I first met Trevor when I was running my own computer services company and I was approached by Trevor and his late brother, Dennis, to supply a computer system for their printing company Horner Brothers Printers.

As a customer, Trevor was always fair and reasonable and a pleasure to do business with. In those early days I realised that the brothers were something special, always looking to improve, innovate and educate.

But it was when I started working for Trevor as an employee rather than as a supplier, I realised just how special he is. Most of the staff at Horner Brothers were young and generally school leavers who had not gone on to further education. Under Trevor’s guidance and mentoring they gained confidence in their own ability and quickly became part of the extended “Horner” family. With Trevor’s coaching, they worked hard and became conscientious, enthusiastic and professional members of the team. Trevor has a wonderful ability to listen to people, encourage ideas and coach individuals to achieve their full potential.

I learnt so much during my 15 years at Horner Brothers prior to my retirement in 2008 and cannot thank Trevor enough for the many hours he spent with me listening and encouraging me in my career. I can think of no one better qualified to encourage, mentor & support young entrepreneurs in the pursuit of their dreams. Thank You.

Trevor has many positive qualities that would help him in the role of mentor. From my own personal experience I found him very willing to share his own experience, in a way that helped me build skills. He is an active listener, I always felt he was present in our conversations and encouraged me to find my own solutions through talking through options. He is supportive and non-judgemental and allowed me to take risks, knowing that I had his support. He is honest and not afraid to give a dose of reality in his feedback but coached in a constructive way.

I have known Trevor for 19 years, firstly as my Boss (the best one I have ever had!) and more recently as a valued friend.

Beyond the guiding love and influence of my own parents I feel blessed that along my journey I have also had the good fortune of being mentored by just a handful of hugely influential people. Trevor Horner undoubtedly heads up that group of people. Having worked for Trevor for over seven years I have first-hand experience of his effectiveness as a mentor and businessman, he is a fantastic visionary with an ability to engage, enrol, energise and empathise. He and his brother Dennis certainly opened my mind set into a completely different way of being and conducting myself, not only in business but also in my personal life too.

Following the sale of Horner Brothers Print Group, I felt Trevor had given me the tools and insight and I had personally gained the knowledge and experience to build a successful business for myself and my wife.
